Biography

Anthony Smithson is responsible for the management of ongoing development and construction activities at Grubb Ventures. Anthony has over 15 years of experience managing an array of investment, building design, and construction projects.

Before joining Grubb Ventures, Anthony worked for Grubb Properties as an Investment Analyst and Project Manager. There he managed the repositioning of several office portfolios as well as the development and construction of multifamily communities in North Carolina.

Prior to transitioning into commercial real estate, Anthony worked as a structural engineer, designing office buildings, mixed-use developments, highway bridges, multifamily communities, single-family homes, and retail centers. Formerly, he was the Director of Operations for Structural Design, Inc., an engineering consulting firm located in Atlanta, GA.

In 2011, Anthony earned his MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, MA with concentrations in Investment Finance and Real Estate. While pursuing his Masters’ Degree at Babson College, he worked alongside Boston Properties as an operations consultant and worked as an Investment Analyst for Portfolio Inmobiliario, a mixed-use developer in San Jose, Costa Rica.

In addition to his MBA, Anthony has a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and at the Triangle Community Coalition.  Anthony maintains registration as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Georgia, and California.
